Recently I stepped by GQ Magazine‘s Website and read a few articles. Ok, I must admit I don’t do that just every now and then but more on a regular base. Anyways, there was this article or video actually about hair, how to cut it, how to style it and how to maintain it.
The last point actually got me to thinking about my hair care. Since I can remember taking care of my hair, I shampooed it every day and then used a conditioner. Sometimes I even use nutrition oil for that extra extra that makes my hair glow-y and soft. And apparently I did it wrong…
In the video some of their editors said that washing you hair every day with shampoo is actually a bad thing. Most of us guys don’t use the right products for their hair, as they contain sulfur and very aggressive substances, leading to dryness, dull and brittle hair.
A side effect of the mentioned things above, is our hair getting more greasy due to its’ attempt to balance that dry sphere on our top. Moreover it loses its’ natural shine and smoothness.
Alright, at that point and due to the fact I moved to a country with bad water quality (sorry Belgium) I felt my hair getting worse every day. So, I wanted to try something out, some of the tips this editor gave in that video. Washing my hair with shampoo only three times a week max.
I was disgusted by it first and I needed to find some solutions for freshness matter, ’cause I don’t wanna look like a fried potato. So I went shopping, and bought some dry shampoo for my hair not be greasy and look oily all the way and some new shampoo and conditioner. I got something from Korres , as their products are natural and just right for damaged hair.
By the way, just because I shampoo my hair only 3 times a week now doesn’t mean I don’t wash it. I still rinse it with medium warm water every morning and comb them. After they dried I put some of the dry- shampoo in it and then comb my hair again. They look fresher after this procedure.
Now, instead of using some extra- oil products from the drug store, I make myself a nice hair mask once in a while. I just mix 1 avocado, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. I put it on my hair, fix it with some cling film and then after 20min I wash it out, this time with shampoo. You will be amazed by its’ effect.
And by the way there is another thing you can do for shiny and soft hair. You need half a liter of warm water, 2 spoons of vinegar and the juice of half a lemon. Just when you go to the shower rinse your hair with this mixture and it will be super soft and shiny. Don’t worry you won’t smell like a salad 😉
For me, I can say, my hair is softer but still I feel after I use shampoo that it is dry and dull. Hope to see changes soon.
See you soon, with some nice fall/winter outfit posts from myself and a friend of mine.
