Hats Off, Hats On

When I imagine the 1920’s, I smell tobacco and a scent of whiskey or “Bathtub Gin” in the air. I see dark, hidden bars and women in fancy little cocktail dresses dancing with men all suited up, wearing hats.

Previously this week, I told you that I’d write about hats, because there is something fascinating about them. I don’t know how you feel, but it seems like wearing a hat makes even the most boring or dumbest outfit look cool, street- stylish and highly fashionable. I mean the day before yesterday I saw a guy wearing just a black tank top and ordinary shorts, which wouldn’t be that much of fancy outfit but he had a hat on, making it look special and in a way it reminded me of British fashion.

So I called up a friend of mine, who I know has a lot of hats and decided to do a little shooting with his hats. It was a blast and I wanna show you the pictures and give you some advice how to find your perfect head wear. ๐Ÿ™‚

Traveller hats are the basic hats we all know and we all see. Mostly they are oval- shaped and have a little crease at the top of the hat. I would love to have on in beige since I saw that type of hat at the Topmanย Store in Berlin, but you know “coulda, woulda, shouda“. Here are some impressions of a traveller

By the way, the header picture shows this traveller hat too. And if you wanna buy one now, maybe you like one of those.

With this next hat we shot, I am actually not sure if it is a classic bowl hat, as it looks like a traveller and bowl at the same time. Maybe I am mistaken it but anyway, let’s see.

I hope you can see what I mean now with not being sure what type of hat it is. If you know it, let me know in the comment section bellow. Yet, if you wanna buy a real bowl, here you go.

Boyish hats for me are hats that are little cheeky and give you a certain younger look. Surely not everyone can come up with this look or hat and I recommend wearing such hats only if you don’t have a big head, like I do. It would be ridiculous me wearing this hat, like an elephant on a ball. Here are some impressions.

I hope now you can see what I mean. Still I love the hat and the whole outfit on my friend Martin. It comes off like an early 2011ย Kenzo line.ย

I hope you liked the blog post and I would like to thank my dear friends Laura, Markus and Martin for helping me doing this shooting and modeling for me.

See you next time. XOXO Ilija.

I had and still have a lot of inspiration from the people all around vienna and many other blogs I follow on instagram or facebook. Mostly I imagine outfits in my head that could be cool and then I go online for a little research and find out more about a certain aspect from my imaginary outfit. That’s how my ideas come alive ๐Ÿ™‚
